Yaya Toure Wins Best African Footballer of the year Award



Cote d’Ivoire international, Yaya Toure, on Thursday won the African Footballer of the Year Award.

The Manchester City midfielder beat Super Eagle midfielder, Mikel Obi, and compatriot Elephant of Cote d’Ivoire captain, Didier Drogba to pick the award at the Glo/CAF award held in Lagos.

Thursday’s win made it the third successive continental football crown for the former Barcelona midfielder.

Meanwhile, Nigeria swept all the other major honors at the gala in Lagos.

Stephen Keshi won coach of the year after reviving the national team and leading the Super Eagles to their first African Cup win in 20 years. The Super Eagles won the team of the year award, and the under-17 Golden Eaglets took the trophy for the youth team.
